The second
International
Weaving Symposium
Joensuu 23.-27.7.2012
Welcome to the
second International Weaving Symposium, summer 2012 in Joensuu. Our purpose
is to gather textile professionals, students and hobbyists alike
from around the world for an active weaving-centred symposium in
which international, finnish and North Karelian varying styles are
considered from all viewpoints of those participating.
The symposium offers to all those interested in weaving and design
the possibilities to exchange experiences and stories and influence
novel alongside traditional weaving techniques. In addition we have
arranged seminars featuring some of the foremost weaving
specialists.
At
the year 2012 our main theme is interior design. This means that we
have a lot of different workshops and lessons about interior design
and weaving. This year we offer an unique recycling workshop by
south African
Heath Nash.
The International Weaving Symposium is organized by the North
Karelian Finnish Crafts Association and Homecrafts-project. The main
languages of the symposium are English and Finnish. Symposium venues
are
North Karelia College, (address Tulliportinkatu 3, Joensuu)
and
Taitokortteli - handcraft and culture quarter, (address
Koskikatu 1, Joensuu).
The registration fee prior to the 15th
of April is 590 €, single workshop 150 €. After that it will be 660
€ and for a single workshop 180 €.
(incl. VAT) Price includes: workshops, seminars, lunches,
afternoon coffee, Evening together Programme and Tour of Lake Pielinen.
Single workshop includes lunch and afternoon coffee.
